Head of Brewer Morris In-House North America (Tax, Accounting & Finance) |Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support leadership to oversee all aspects of the company’s global tax function, including tax compliance, tax accounting, transfer pricing, planning, and audits; Ensure compliance with all international, federal, state and local tax regulations.
- Assist with development and implementation tax strategies to optimize the company’s tax position and support global business objectives.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of federal, state, local, and international tax returns. Manage the tax provision process under IFRS (IAS 12), including quarterly and annual reporting and disclosures.
- Advise and guide management on tax implications of business initiatives, M&A, and restructuring. Provide solutions to meet business goals.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g. legal, finance, HR, operations) and external advisors to ensure compliance and efficiency. Coordinate with customers on more complex discussions such as permanent establishment, tax treaty relief applications, and tax residency certificates; new supplier registrations; resale certificates, etc.
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and intercompany transaction analysis.
- Monitor global tax law changes and proactively assess their impact on the company’s operations. Manage tax audits and inquiries by various tax authorities globally.
- Ensure compliance and advise on all international tax implications including transactions involving sales, services, employees, IP, and loans
- Build, develop, and mentor a high-performing tax team.
Job Skills & Abilities :
- Deep understanding of U.S. federal income tax, international tax (GILTI, BEPS, OECD guidelines), and transfer pricing rules.
- Strong working knowledge of IAS 12.
- Proficiency in tax compliance software, OneSource, preferred.
- Proven leadership, communication, and project management skills.
- Willing to work as both a reviewer and preparer of deliverables as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment with a global mindset.
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communications with the ability to have difficult conversations with tact & professionalism.
- Strong analytical, numerical and reasoning abilities; problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and demonstrated initiative with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate strong independent judgment and decision making; providing accurate and sound recommendations to resolve issues and mitigate risk to the company.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Familiarity with ERP systems a plus.
Education and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Master’s in Tax or JD/LLM preferred.
- CPA certification or equivalent strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive tax experience including at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within a multinational corporation or Big 4 accounting firm.
- Experience with tax planning, M&A, and conflict resolution.
- Experience working with multinational manufacturing based businesses preferred
